Profile
Jamie Peacock is the archetypal modern day forward: strong and fast and deadly both in defence and attack.
Peacock came through the junior ranks at Bradford, although he did spend a year at Woolongong University in Australia to hone his skills, and spent six years with the Bulls - helping them to a host of trophies.
He broke into the side in 1999, but it was his performances in the following year when he helped Bradford to Challenge Cup victory that earned him international recognition with England.
Bradford were the dominant force in Super League in the early part of the previous decade, winning the Grand Final in 2001, 2002 and 2003, with Peacock pivotal to their efforts. Peacock had a stellar year in 2003, with club honours sitting alongside Players Player of the Year, Rugby League Writers Player of the Year and Man of Steel awards.
He made the move to Leeds Rhinos in 2006 and helped the Headingley club secure Grand Final honours in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
Peacock has captained England and Great Britain and is regarded as one of the finest players of his generation.
Career high: It's a tough call for a player who has secured every honour in the game, but he rates the 2009 Grand Final win over St Helens as the highlight and it would not be wise to argue. Career low: The 2002 Grand Final was a heartbreaking one for Peacock as his Bradford Bulls were beaten 19-18 by St Helens who claimed the win courtesy of a late drop goal from Sean Long. Quote: "I'm sure that my mental toughness, above everything else, has enabled me to get to the very top, and helped to overcome natural skill deficiencies. I've a stubborn streak in me that is not just the desire to prove others wrong, but to challenge myself beyond expectations." Trivia: Peacock, shedding his hard-man image, is a budding Jamie Oliver: "I do all of the cooking in our house - I probably cook six days out of seven."
