Mermonkeys, No Mere Monkeys is a Story Quest in Bloons TD 6, added in Version 44.0 alongside the Mermonkey. It involves two subquests consisting of challenges involving the Mermonkey, with one being a brief introduction to the Mermonkey with trivial interaction, and one which involves genuine interaction with Mermonkeys to beat Peninsula up to Round 90. It requires Level 40 to unlock. Upon completing the quest, the rewards three Mermonkey Insta-Monkeys of Tier 3 (3-0-0 Merm, 0-3-0 Merm, 0-0-3 Merm) and 2500 Mermonkey XP.

The custom message "Like magic! You and the Mermonkeys defeated the Bloons on Luminous Cove!" is in the victory screen. Not possible to lose in this sub-quest.

Scoop tells player about the Mermonkeys joining the battle to stop the bloons. He doesn't talk about the other defenses but there is a 0-3-0 Bouncing Bullet, a 0-0-0 Heli, two 2-0-0 Advanced Intels, a 4-0-0 Aircraft Carrier, and on the left are all uncrosspathed T3 Mermonkeys in a messy vertical line, sequentially ordered by upgrade path ordinal.

Upon joining, the player will be confronted with the aforementioned pre-placed towers with $3000 starting cash, 100 lives, and no MK. Played on Hard on the map Peninsula, beating Rounds 45-90 is required. All towers are enabled except that Mermonkeys are limited to 4-4-4 crosspaths, which is odd given that the Mermonkey is meant to be the main highlight of the quest.
After Round 63 is beaten, Scoop comments on the Mermonkey.

Custom win message in the victory screen is present. It reads "You and the Mermonkeys defeated the Bloons on Peninsula! Scoop was there too!".
Epilogue[]
There is no extra ending dialogue. Upon the first completion, the player can now access the chest, which unlocks an assortment of rewards:
- Three Insta-Monkeys of the Mermonkey: 3-0-0, 0-3-0, and 0-0-3.

The first sub-quest is pointless to strategize, except it just takes a few minutes to play through.
The second sub-quest, however, is actually strategic. Use any applicable defense to defend against Peninsula Hard with pre-added towers as extras. May be helpful to take advantage of the extra Mermonkeys and also add ice platforms via Arctic Wind.
