BALL CARLOS BALL, age 92, of Norwich Avenue, and formerly of Monson, Mass, died Tuesday (May 15, 2001) at Harrington Court Genesis Eder Care in Colchester following a prolonged ifness. He was born on May 7, 1909 in Dayton, Ohio, a son of the late Albert and Myra (Child) Herrick.

He was adopted in 191 by Freelon and Jennie (Whitaker) Ball of Monson, Mass, where he lIved until his retirement in 1974. He owned and operated the Carlos H. Ball Insurance Agency in Monson for many years and also worked as a Tax Accountant before retiring and moving to Lebanon, CT. Mr. Ball was educated at Monson Academy, Harvard University and Western New England Law School.

He served in the US Navy during WWW. Mr. Ball was an active member of the community. He served as a member of the Hampden County, MA Selective Services System for two years, Town Cerk of Monson for three years, President of the Monson Home for the Aged for several years, co-operator and member of the Board of Directors of the Monson Free Library and Reading Room Association for 23 years, served for several years as Secretary for the directors of Monson Academy and was a member of the American Legion Post Monson, MA since 1946. He married Evelyn Grace Schaefer on July 6, 1938 in Caldwell, NJ.

Mrs. Ball survives him. Mr. Ball enjoyed several hobbies in his retirement years. These included making reproductions of antique string instruments: dulcimers, zithers and folk harps which he exhibited and sold at Connecticut craft shows.

He also enjoyed collecting antique tools and participating as a member of the Attic Society. In addition to his loving wife of 62 years, he is survived by three children, Geoffrey Carlos Ball of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Cynthia Ball McCormick of Columbia, Ohio, Naomi, Ball Collett of Stratford.
